Our 'Land of the Giants' African Photography Safari, Botswana and South Africa, is an 13 day tour like no other and, for many, a once in a lifetime experience. Shoot up close and personal from secluded hides at ground and water level, or from open-top game vehicles driven by your personal game driver, who is always looking to have us at the right angle and light to capture the best images. We will be spending our time at a beautiful, privately-owned game reserve and this, combined with open vehicles, allows for an intimate interaction with the animals while not intruding on the animals' natural behaviour.
Along with some of the some of the finest predator and elephant viewing in southern Africa, you will have the opportunity to see and photograph lion, leopards, cheetah, giraffe, wildebeest, hyena, zebra, warthog, baboon and more. Of course it goes without saying that you will encounter some of the most beautiful African birds, with over 400 species living in or visiting the area; including the world's largest bird, the ostrich.
Our photography safari will begin and end in Johannesburg, which will allow easy access for international flights. Whilst at each of the two game reserves you will be able to participate in 2 game activities per day; these will be morning and afternoon game drives of approximately 3 hours duration, or a hide activity. During the hide shoots, you will be provided with a opportunity to capture a wealth of unique images as you shoot at ground/water level. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to shoot in a unique, state of the art, overnight hide complete with external lighting, sensors when animals approach, sleeping and bathroom facilities.
Once your photography safari has commenced, you will have an all-inclusive experience covering meals, accommodation, road transportation, domestic flights, photography tuition; not to mention a wonderful time.
Photographers of all abilities and experience will marvel at the images you take home, but importantly you don't have to be a photographer to be captivated by the atmosphere, animals and landscapes of Africa. Many of our non-photographer travellers can't resist taking a few shots with their tablets or phones; you'll get that close!

What to Bring
• Digital camera capable of operating in manual mode;
• Lenses wide to telephoto suggested – eg. 15-35, 24-70, 70-300 (or similar), 150-600
• Ask if unsure of lens choice as you don't want to bring everything;
• Tripod (personal choice) most occasions you will be shooting from the vehicle and not necessary. A monopod may be useful if shooting vehicle
• Spare batteries and charger;
• Suitable clothing – weather dependent;
• Good, comfortable walking shoes (ie closed-in shoes)

• Travel before or after the workshop. We will begin and end as a group in Johannesburg;
• Personal expenses;
• Tips/Gratuities - note: it is customary to tip the native guide and spotter for each game drive; this can also be done at the end of the week.
